Monaco Yacht Show 2019 was a dynamic week featuring an outstanding collection of 125 superyachts, of which 44 were new launches. This year’s fleet on display had a total worth of around €4 billion with an average asking price of yachts for sale of €37.8 million (source: analysis delivered by Superyacht Times on the basis of the yachts 30m-plus in length exhibited at MYS 2019).

MYS 2019 Review

During the week there were head turning surprises and celebrations, kicked off by the Inaugural MYS Opening Gala. The invitation-only occasion was an industry epicentre for 18 superyachts measuring 40m-plus competing for 4 awards that were presented at the Monaco Yacht Show Superyacht Awards Ceremony, hosted at the Monaco Yacht Club. The winners of the 6th MYS Superyacht Awards were:

  • Winner of the 2019 MYS/RINA award was 64m M/Y Attila by Sanlorenzo.

  • Winner of the 2019 MYS Exterior Design Award went to 80m M/Y Excellence by Abeking & Rasmussen. Excellence also claimed the top prize of the evening, the MYS 2019 Finest New Superyacht Award.

  • Winner of the 2019 MYS Interior Design Award was awarded to M/Y Tis built by German shipyard Lürssen.

Amidst the impressive fleet of yachts on display at Port Hercules and at anchor, there was an enthusiastic atmosphere about various joint collaborations, superyacht unveilings, sustainable concepts and tech developments. Some of the breaking news at MYS:

  • Ferretti Group and Wally revealed the brand’s latest concept, the 50m 165 Wallypower - the result of a collaboration between respected yacht designer Espen Øino and Luca Bassani, founder of Wally Yachts.

  • Gulf Craft announced their Majesty 120 that will be the first Majesty vessel to feature 100% electrically operated services on board. Hull #1 is under construction in the Emirates and scheduled for completion next year.

  • Benetti presented the creation of their new line of compact, steel expedition yachts with the first hybrid yacht set to be the 37m B.YOND, that would be powered by the SISHIP EcoProp diesel-electric system from Siemens Marine combining eco-sustainable navigation with low fuel consumption.

  • Italian yacht manufacturer Perini Navi, Dutch studio Dykstra Naval Architects and UK-based Magma Structures took to the stunning vessel S/Y Maltese Falcon to announce their partnership to design and build the next generation of Falcon Rigs. Perini Navi also shared its plans to open operational bases in Monte Carlo and Hong Kong to support its international strategy in the future.
